4 Tech Movies To Watch If You’re A Startup

Code Girl

For female entrepreneurs, this documentary is very inspiring and motivational because it takes you step-by-step through the well-known girl-pitch competition for young girls called Technovation.

It teaches young entrepreneurs how to do their market research, see who their competitors are, narrow down all the ideas and features into something that can actually be built and prototyped into a real mobile app that solves a real issue in their community.

As you watch the documentary and see what these young school girls are capable of with very little experience in life, you definitely get inspired.

The Social Network

“You don’t get to 500 million friends without making a few enemies.”
At the age of 19, Mark Zuckerberg built what’s now known as the largest social network ever built.

It started off only serving college students but with constant development and persistence, Zuckerberg ended up leading the whole internet in his direction.

An engineer’s definition of “hacker” is to build something very quickly, and that’s what Marc expects from his engineers so they race against a clock to complete each priority task. The movie shows how Marc always builds new functionalities for what people like or want.

Most importantly, the movie teaches us learning quickly from whatever mistakes we make and not giving up.

Steve Jobs

“The people who are crazy enough to think that they can change the world, are the ones who do.” Said by one of the bravest entrepreneurs and inventors, and that’s what the movie is about.

“The original rebel” Steve Jobs, the CEO of the company that he was once forced out of, challenged everyone because of a vision that he strongly believed in.

Watching this true-story movie teaches a lot about hard work, dedication, always looking for better, and even though he never wrote a single line of programing code in his life, he still dreamed big, and worked with what he had no matter how difficult the circumstances were, even if you have to start your company from your garage.

Startup.com

Childhood friends, Kaleil Isaza Tuzman and Tom Herman create the website govWorks.com, that lets citizens easily interact with their local governments.

Their website succeeds quickly and wins an award, and within one year, the two young entrepreneurs are able to raise 60 million dollars, hire hundreds of employees and rub shoulders with President Clinton. However, they faced trouble with the stock market and that shakes the strength of their business. Mainly technical difficulties, but eventually they manage to out smart their competitors.

Little did they know that these challenges would affect the management of govWorks.com, and it will not only endanger their company and their jobs but it would also endanger their life-long friendship.

    Yo

I love the entertaining motivation “in disguise” and I wish the list would go longer… coming from an entrepreneur whose ups and downs are uncountable per second.
